Stop Windows Mapped Drives From Disconnecting
When you map an external drive with Windows; over a period of ‘idle’ time the drive becomes disconnected.
This works fine for workstations where your not always accessing the remote resource. However, imagine if you had a mapped storage drive in which you made nightly backups. If you drive disconnects, your backups won’t be made because they can’t find the mapped drive.
The solution? Disable the autodisconnect feature.
To disable windows autodisconnect, go to the Start menu and select Run. You’ll get a little pop-up window. Type in:
net config server /autodisconnect:-1
And click the “Ok” button.
